Black History Month at the University of Portsmouth

This October the University of Portsmouth celebrates Black History Month (BHM) with a programme of cultural festivals, film, talks and a call to add to the University’s archives and collections in the Library. Black History Month promotes knowledge of black history, culture and heritage, and positive black contributions to British society. In support of BHM the University is supporting various activities throughout the Month, in conjunction with the Multicultural Staff Network and Student Union and Portsmouth Film Society. The University is also signing up to the Race Equality Charter , which aims to improve the representation, progression and success of minority ethnic staff and students within higher education. Mike & The Mechanics set Guildhall date

Mike & The Mechanics, who have sold over ten million records worldwide – announce their 2019 nationwide ‘Looking Back Over My Shoulder Tour’. An epic run of 34 UK concerts between February and April will see them in concert at the Portsmouth Guildhall on 30 March 2019. Mike + The Mechanics are Genesis founding member Mike Rutherford (Guitar) – one of the UK’s most prolific R&B singer, Andrew Roachford - Lead and backing vocals – (whose previous hits include Cuddly Tour and Family Man) and Canadian-born singer, Tim Howar - lead and backing vocals – who formed and toured with his band Vantramp, with the likes of Rod Stewart and Paulo Nutini. Southsea has a monthly farmers market which I really love because Palmerston precinct where it's held becomes even more alive and buzzing. It is also a perfect opportunity to find some fresh or unusual local produce, that's not available in the local supermarkets.
