The city’s iconic Portsmouth Guildhall may currently be closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic but The Guildhall Trust, the charity behind the busy concert and conferencing venue, is determined that the ‘Show Will Go On’ when they are given the go-ahead to re-open, with lots of rescheduled shows and new events also going on sale.
The Guildhall’s popular Portsmouth Comic Con is moved back to Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August with Jamie Cullum, Elbow, Jimmy Carr and the world’s leading MJ tribute; King of Pop all moved back to dates later in the Summer and Autumn. Other shows are moving into the Winter/Spring of 2021 including Paul Weller, Chris Ramsey, Milton Jones, Strictly Come Dancing – The Professionals, The Boys are Back and The Joe and Dianne Show.
The Guildhall Trust is still working with the promoters of a small number of shows to reschedule dates and they thank people for their patience as promoters work through the monumental task of rerouting their entire tours.
Existing ticket holders for rescheduled shows will have their tickets automatically transferred to the new dates, so only need to contact their point of purchase if they are unable to attend. This does mean that a small number of tickets for previously sold-out concerts may become available and will be released back onto general sale – keep an eye on the website!
To brighten spirits and to support the Guildhall Trust and wider cultural industry at this unprecedented time, why not book ahead for a show and give yourself something to look forward to? Tickets for rescheduled shows are still on sale and a number of new shows have also recently gone on sale.
Recently announced shows coming to Portsmouth Guildhall include one of the country’s best-loved reggae/pop bands; UB40, The Hollies, The Simon & Garfunkel Story, Magic of Motown and Here Come The Boys starring the stars of Strictly; Aljaz and Pasha with West End star; Sam Salter and Australian dance sensation; Michael Dameski.
Other shows to choose from in the Autumn season include The Story of Guitar Heroes, Russell Howard, Ben Portsmouth – The King is Back, Paul Smith, Jason Donavan, The Stranglers, John Bishop, Mo Gilligan, Deacon Blue, A Country Night in Nashville, Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra and Whitney – Queen of the Night.
The Guildhall Trust is also inviting people to show their appreciation of our wonderful NHS staff and key workers and to thank them for their selfless dedication at this time by ‘Gifting a Ticket’ so that they may enjoy a live concert or event once this awful virus has passed.
